Warrants issued for Akron man accused of shooting, killing 4-year-old girl

Darnell Bitting, 31, is charged with murder and weapons under disability in the shooting that happened about 10:30 p.m. on Mercer Avenue near Lawton Street, according to a news release from Akron police. Officers observed a 2008 Dodge Avenger with four girls, ages 3, 4, 6 and 7, inside of the car with their grandmother, the release says.

Alcohol a factor in crash that killed Akron man, investigators say

The crash happened shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Albrecht Avenue near Meadowridge Road, according to a news release from Highway Patrol. The man, identified as Joseph E. Adams, 59, was driving a 2000 Dodge Ram pickup truck east on Albrecht Avenue when he drove off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail, the release says.
