Aurora man charged with 2 armed robberies, suspected in more

A 43-year-old man has been arrested and charged with an armed robbery and an armed robbery attempt in Aurora in late November and is suspected of others, police said. Reginald M. Parker, of the 600 block of Tinley Drive, Aurora, faces felony charges in the Nov. 21 armed robbery at the Family Dollar Store, 890 N. Farnsworth Ave., and the attempted robbery of a 7-Eleven, 1790 N. Farnsworth Ave., on Nov. 25. In the Family Dollar robbery, a masked and armed Parker is accused of entering the store at about 8:20 p.m. and demanding money from the 29-year-old clerk.

A twice-convicted felon on parole was charged with planning to deliver heroin while armed after he led Aurora police on a short chase, authorities said. Derrick L. Givens, 27, of the 500 block of Iowa Avenue, Aurora, faces felony charges of armed violence, being an armed habitual criminal, possession of a weapon by a felon, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, and aggravated fleeing and eluding stemming from an arrest Friday, according to police and Kane County court documents.

Woman charged with elder theft at North Aurora facility in 2015

A 41-year-old Joliet woman faces charges of felony elder theft and financial exploitation in that she tried to steal more than $15,000 from a senior in 2015 while a contract worker for the state's Department on Aging. A Kane County grand jury this week indicted Mary E. Pfingston, of the 3300 block of Hutchinson Street, on five felony charges, the most severe of which is theft of $10,000 to $100,000, according to court records.

Cops looking for Naperville bank robber

The FBI and Naperville police are searching for a man who robbed the PNC Bank Thursday afternoon at 9 E. Ogden Ave. Police said the man entered the bank around 1 p.m. and implied he had a weapon. No one was injured.
