A kitchen fire at George's Lounge, 229 Cleveland Ave. NW, has knocked the business out of commission - at least for the time being. Ryan McMichael, one of three co-owners, said he's not yet sure when the bar and restaurant will re-open.

Skateboarding death in Canton prompts new legislation

One memorable scene in the 1985 film "Back to the Future" is Michael J. Fox's character Marty McFly riding a skateboard to school while grabbing onto the rear bumpers of multiple vehicles to propel him. And while McFly's skateboarding may have looked fun in the movie, 16-year-old Dallas Swogger's attempt at a similar move led to his death in Canton last year.

Stark physician accused of running 'pill mill' that led to deaths of 2 patients

CANTON  Stark County physician Frank D. Lazzerini has been indicted on 272 counts tied to what prosecutors allege is the operation of a "pill mill" at his medical office. Lazzerini also faces two counts of involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of two patients, according to a news release issued Friday morning by Stark County Prosecutor John D. Ferrero.

A Stark County mother and a state lawmaker are working to create change after a skateboarding stunt killed 16-year-old Dallas Swogger. Thomas West, Democratic State Representative for the 49th House District, drafted the Dallas Swogger Act to bring awareness and prevent skateboarding accidents.

CANTON Patrons and staff were evacuated out of George's late Wednesday night as a fire broke out in the downtown lounge and restaurant at 229 Cleveland Ave. NW. The fire started in the kitchen which is in the rear of the establishment.
