Police arrest 2 for racing on Covell

Davis police arrested two drivers and impounded their cars last week after observing them street-racing on West Covell Boulevard. In a Facebook post Tuesday, police officials reported that a patrol officer was driving east approaching the Davis High School campus at about 1 p.m. Thursday when he observed two Ford Mustangs racing westbound "at very high rates of speed."

Train fatality ID'd as UCD student

Yolo County coroner's officials have identified the man who was struck and killed by a freight train early Friday morning as Krisada Ruampatarasindhu, a 22-year-old UC Davis student. Ruampatarasindhu died at the scene of the collision, which occurred at about 1:30 a.m. along the Union Pacific Railroad tracks near Second and D streets, just east of the Amtrak station platform.
