Daytona Beach News
on the Road Again: 25th annual Biketoberfest rumbles on

A cavalcade of chromed-out motorcycles thundered down Main Street on Saturday - a sign that Biketoberfest, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, still has life left in its engine.  Reclining on his 1990 Harley-Davidson Sportster and wearing an American flag cut-off vest, 59-year-old Chuck Williams said he has been coming to the biker bash since its inception. The crowds have thinned and the bikers have grayed but little else has changed, said Williams, who now lives in Daytona Beach.

Biketoberfest at full throttle

Editor's note: As Biketoberfest enters Day 3 of its 25th year "Chrome" celebration, staff writer Nikki Ross and veteran photographer Jim Tiller headed to Main Street in downtown Daytona Beach on Friday to capture the sights and sounds of the fall bike event, which lasts through Sunday.  Nancy Jermyn waits near her bike that's decorated with an "Aruba" license plate in front of Dirty Harry's on Main Street. Jermyn parks in the same spot every year so that she can meet up with her friends who actually hail from Aruba.

Nice weekend ahead but next week may dip into the 50s

While beautiful weather is forecast for Biketoberfest and other local weekend activities on Saturday, rain may set in on Sunday ahead of a cold front forecast to send temperatures down into the 50s on Wednesday night. But, if a winter season outlook released this week by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is accurate, the forecast for the South in the months ahead is warmer and drier than normal.
