Deputies arrest suspect linked to rash of Deltona car burglaries

This week, Volusia County Sheriff's deputies identified a fourth suspect who was linked to eight car burglaries that occurred near Providence Boulevard in Deltona. Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Laura Williams said Laron Manning, 19, of Daytona Beach, was known by all three of the previously arrested suspects - Erik Smith, 20, Carmaine Givens, 19, and Markees Shine, 18. She also said Manning was actively working with Smith when he committed the seven car burglaries near Providence.

Ex-Rep. Dwayne Taylor sentenced to 13 months prison, 18 months supervision

Former Florida representative and ex-Daytona Beach city commissioner Dwayne Taylor was sentenced to 13 months in federal prison, followed by 18 months supervised release after being found guilty on nine counts of wire fraud for using campaign money for personal expenses. U.S. District Judge Carlos Mendoza passed the sentence after hearing testimony Friday morning from Taylor's attorneys asking for probation.
