Sheriff: Deaths of woman, 2 kids treated as murder-suicide

A mid-Michigan sheriff says he's treating the deaths of a Detroit-area woman and two young children as a murder-suicide. Bay County Sheriff Troy Cunningham said Wednesday that 31-year-old Nikita Landrum of Farmington Hills and 3-year-old Mikayla Walker were found dead the day before inside a car parked outside a drain maintenance center, and 2-year-old Dariel Walker II was found dead outside the car.

The West Bloomfield Township Police Department says three men have been arrested in dozens of home invasions of metro Detroit business owners dating back to 2014. According to police, the three men were arrested this month, two of whom were caught breaking into a home in Farmington Hills.

A former University of Michigan doctor has been jailed on child pornography charges after being targeted in a broader probe. Mark Hoeltzel, 46, a pediatric rheumatology specialist whose state medical license was suspended Dec. 21, was having sex with a "vulnerable" female patient in his clinic, gave her pain pills that she didn't need and talked to her about his other teenage patients' "hot" bodies, federal prosecutors allege.
