City picks Indianapolis firm to lead 201 Market redevelopment proposal

A city committee has selected an Indianapolis firm out of a pool of three finalists to move forward in negotiations with the city of Grand Rapids for the city's riverfront property at 201 Market Ave. Flaherty & Collins Properties was selected over REDICO of Southfield and Rockford Construction of Grand Rapids to move forward into the next phase of review. The firm will now undergo an intensive "due diligence" period that's expected to last four to six months, city officials announced Wednesday, Oct. 18. The firm was selected by an evaluation committee made up of city staff, Downtown Development Authority and Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. representatives, the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan and the city's consultant on the project, JLL.
