Ormond Beach is located north of Daytona Beach on the eastern coast of Florida along the Atlantic Ocean. Ormond Beach police officer seriously injured after motorcycle crash

An Ormond Beach police officer had to be airlifted to the hospital Wednesday after the motorcycle he was driving struck a truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol . The officer was responding with his lights and siren on to a call of a suspicious person armed with a gun at about 3:15 p.m. He was on Hand Avenue near Clyde Morris Boulevard when a pickup truck made a U-turn in front of him.

Ormond Beach police officer seriously injured in motorcycle crash

An Ormond Beach police officer responding to a report of a gunman was seriously injured Wednesday when his motorcycle, which had lights on and sirens blaring, struck the side of a truck. The officer was headed to a call of a suspicious person with a gun at 1425 Hand Avenue shorty after 3 p.m. when a white truck turned in front of the officer's motorcycle, said Office Keith Walker, Ormond Beach Police Department spokesman.

Suspect named in hit-run wreck that killed Flagler school bus driver

Florida Highway Patrol investigators have identified a suspect in the fatal hit-and-run accident on Interstate 95 that killed a Flagler County school bus driver before dawn Monday. According to an FHP report, Raymond Almodovar, 68, of Ormond Beach, was driving north on the interstate when he veered off the highway and his car struck a guard rail, spun back into oncoming traffic, and was T-boned by a northbound Jeep Wrangler.  The driver of the Wrangler then got out and assessed the damage before getting back into his vehicle and leaving the crash, witnesses told the FHP.
