Portage schools superintendent gets contract extension, increased compensation

Portage Public Schools Superintendent Mark Bielang's "highly effective" evaluation in June has earned him a contract extension and increased compensation. The Portage school board Monday extended his contract for another year, from June 30, 2019 to June 30, 2020, and increased his tax-sheltered annuity from $32,410 to $38,650 based on a 3.2 percent increase of his $195,000 base salary.
