Man Wounded In Shooting Saturday Night

A 22-year-old Antioch man was hospitalized after a shooting Saturday night on Renwick Lane, police said. Police responded about 6:35 p.m. to reports of several shots fired in the 2200 block of Renwick, according to Antioch police.

Supervisors ask fair board to ban gun shows at county fairgrounds in Antioch

On a 5-0 vote, supervisors sent a letter to the 23rd District Agricultural Association requesting that the association stop the gun shows at the state-owned Contra Costa County Fairgrounds, now known as the Contra Costa Event Park in Antioch. County supervisors were unsuccessful in seeking a ban on firearm possession and sales on county fairgrounds from the Agricultural Association in previous attempts in 1996 and in 2004.

Three Mile Slough Drawbridge, located 12 miles north of Antioch in Sacramento County on State Highway 160, is undergoing repairs to its lift mechanism and will be closed to marine traffic until further notice on Dec. 5, 2018. Caltrans closed off marine traffic this week as it began emergency repairs to the State Route 160 Three Mile Slough Bridge.

On Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018 at 2:13 AM, Antioch Police Officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 2300 block of Lemontree Way for a shooting that just occurred. Upon the officers' arrival, they located a 26-year-old male victim from Oakland suffering from a single gunshot wound.

3-year-old run over, killed In Antioch mall parking lot

A 3-year-old girl was run over and killed by a driver in the Sears parking lot at the Somersville Towne Center mall in Antioch Monday night, according to Antioch police. Sgt. Matthew Koch said emergency workers were called to the 2600 block of Somersville Road just after 7:30 p.m. for reports of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Antioch hit-and-run leaves disabled woman with life-threatening

Antioch police are searching for a driver who left a disabled woman with life-threatening injuries after hitting her as she crossed the street early Sunday morning. The 65-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle around 3 a.m. near a shopping center on Lone Tree Way, according to the Antioch Police Department.

County Supervisors To Discuss Asking For Gun Show Ban

The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday will discuss whether to ask the owner and operator of the county fairgrounds in Antioch to consider not allowing possession or sale of firearms at the fairgrounds. While other counties, including Alameda, Marin, Sonoma, San Mateo and Santa Clara, have adopted county ordinances to prohibit gun shows at their county-owned fairgrounds, it isn't that easy in Contra Costa.
