Search continues for missing teen

The Danielsville Police Department is requesting the public's assistance in locating a local teenager who has been missing since she left a relative's home in Danielsville in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 12. Julie Mosier, 18, of Bowman, is a white female, about five feet five inches tall and 125 pounds with green eyes and sandy blond hair. Danielsville Police Chief Brenan Baird said Tuesday that Mosier had spent the night in Danielsville and left around 5 a.m. headed to a friend's home in Elberton.

Tony Aaron Daniel, 53, of Poplar Street was charged with first-degree burglary, according to an indictment filed July 10 in Clarke County Superior Court.

A vote is still more than a year away, but Athens-Clarke Commission is already gearing up to build a spending plan for up to $275 million in construction and other government infrastructure projects. After wreck, Athens man charged with DUI

A Caroline Avenue man was arrested for alleged drunken driving Sunday night after he caused a collision that injured another motorist by making an illegal turn from Jefferson Road to Whitehead Road, Athens-Clarke County police said. When making the turn the man drove into the path of an oncoming car that collided with the van and then crashed into a traffic light control box, police said.

When someone burglarized Gloria Armstrong's bedroom in eastern Athens-Clarke County last weekend and stole her collection of change, it wasn't just a handful of nickels and dimes they took but years of savings meant to help finance her grandchildren's college education. Over the past several years the Joe Carey Road resident accumulated about $5,000 in change she planned to give to her grandchildren when they went to college.

Judge denies bond to Athens teen accused of killing brother, stabbing mother

A Clarke County Superior Court judge this week denied a bond request from an Athens teen who is accused of killing his brother and stabbing his mother two months ago. Judge Regina Quick denied bond to 19-year-old Malachi Qaadir Dorns on the grounds he posed a risk to the safety of the community and might flee the area to avoid prosecution, according to the judge's order filed after a Monday bond hearing.
