Founded in 1827 Danville was made up of eighty donated acres. The city was named for Dan Beckwith who donated twenty of those acres. Danville police looking into armed robberies of two delivery drivers

Cmdr. Josh Webb said police were first called at 9:42 p.m. to the to Jimmy John's at 306 W. Fairchild St. An employee told police he was robbed while making a delivery in the 0-100 block of Center Street. After he exited his vehicle, he said, a man who was wearing a red hoodie and had a black handgun approached him and demanded money and the food, but took only the food before running away.

Danville shooting victims ID'd

The Vermilion County coroner's office on Monday released the names of the two men who were shot and killed outside of a Danville motorcycle club early Saturday morning. Danville police continue to investigate the shooting, which occurred around 2 a.m. outside of the Untouchables Motorcycle Club, 106 Commercial St. and also injured a 36-year-old Danville man.

Three people were shot in the altercation at the Untouchables Motorcycle Club, 106 Commercial St., according to Director of Public Safety Larry Thomason. Two are dead, he said: a 23-year-old male and a 17-year-old male.

Tasha James said she saw Danville police shoot a man they had pulled over during a traffic stop early Tuesday morning. Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden confirmed late Wednesday night that Mr. Gulliford, 34, of Danville was the man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting in the 600 block of Harmon Street.

OSF opens Urbana clinic with range of pediatric specialists

OSF HealthCare Children's Hospital of Illinois has launched a pediatric multispecialty clinic in Urbana, across the street from OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center. Vermilion County group working to open daytime drop-in center for homeless

The Illinois State Police are conducting an investigation into an early-morning death of 34-year-old Danville man, who allegedly was armed when he was shot by Danville police. Public Safety Director Larry Thomason said the shooting occurred when police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 600 block of Sherman Street around 1:55 a.m. "It was reported to police that a male subject had been present in the home and threatened an individual with a firearm, but had left the residence," Thomason said.
