Sheriff Mike Chitwood says he contacted FBI about county corruption concerns

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said he met with two agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation "several months ago" at a training facility in Daytona Beach and asked them to look into what he believes to be corruption in county government. Chitwood provided few details about his meeting with the FBI during a telephone interview with The News-Journal.  His mention of the FBI came amid a week long fight over Amendment 10 - a measure approved by Florida voters that could give Chitwood more authority, including budget and personnel decisions, but would replace Volusia County's form of government, which was approved by local voters in 1970.

2 men found fatally shot at Daytona Beach apartment

Two men were found dead from multiple gunshots at a Daytona Beach apartment complex Friday night, a Daytona Beach police spokeswoman said. Police were following up on an unrelated incident at the Jade Park Apartments in the 500 block of Jimmy Ann Drive when they found Trey Ingraham and Jordan Paden, both 19, dead inside an apartment, according to police spokeswoman Lyda Longa.
