September 22 - The Decatur Area Arts Council will present the first show Wednesday in a series of daytime concerts in collaboration with Millikin University. The "Mid-Day Music" program will debut at 12:15 p.m. with a 30-minute performance in the Anne Lloyd Gallery at the Madden Arts Center in downtown Decatur.

Lawsuit claims department 'rife with sexual misconduct' at Logan County Correctional Center

A federal lawsuit filed Monday against four employees at the Logan County Correctional Center, including the warden, claims the prison's maintenance department was rife with sexual misconduct in which employees brought in things for inmates in exchange for sexual favors. That lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois by a woman only identified as Jane Doe.

Bus replacements coming through grants for Decatur

U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis has announced $4,662,000 in grants from the Federal Transit Administration's Buses and Bus Facilities Competitive Grant Program. Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe says the money will replace buses that are beyond their intended use, but are still in operation.

September 17 - Macon County Coroner Mike Day has released the name of a Decatur bicyclist who was tragically killed Saturday morning. 71 year old William Logue III was pronounced dead at 8:38 Saturday morning in the emergency room at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Arts in Central Park Continues in Downtown Decatur

September 15 - Downtown Decatur's Central Park is full of unique handcrafted pieces of art from local and out of state artisans for this weekend's 56th annual "Arts in Central Park." "Arts in Central Park" has been a community staple for 56 years, and while it originated under a different name there has been a juried fine arts show in Decatur for many years and it has been located in Central Park for over 25. It was originally organized by the Barn Colony Arts and others and then eventually was passed on to the Arts Council and Gallery 510.

Saturday morning at 7:46 A.M. Macon County Sheriff's Office responded to a Harristown Boulevard near Glasglow Road for a reported crash involving a vehicle and bicycle. Preliminary investigations indicated an eastbound pickup truck struck the 71 year old bicyclist.

The preliminary investigation indicates that an eastbound pickup truck struck an eastbound bicyclist just west of the intersection.
