Fire ripped through the top floor of a six-story condominium building Sunday morning in an unincorporated area near Des Plaines, forcing residents to flee their homes with pets and what belongings they could quickly gather. Firefighters from the North Maine Fire Protection District and numerous surrounding departments responded to the fire at the Landings condominium complex at Ballard and Potter roads about 7:45 a.m. Sunday.
