Man, 57, drowns at Milan Beach, police say

According to Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone, the accidental drowning occurred some time before 1:50 p.m. A call came in that a person was spotted submerged in a swimming pond at Milan Beach. Firefighters from Milan Township recovered the victim, Raymond Anthony Perez, of Detroit, about 30 feet from the shore, in 8 to 10 feet of water.

Protest leads to 23 arrests in Downtown Detroit

Detroit police arrested 23 protesters outside of the Detroit Water and Sewage Department and Great Lakes Water Authority on Monday. According to police, 10 men and 13 women mostly elderly were arrested during the protest led by the Poor People's Campaign.
