The Week Ahead: Homeless veterans resource fair returns to Dixon

Organizers of the North Bay Stand Down are putting out the call for volunteers to help set up, run and disassemble the three-day veterans encampment that happens this week at the Dixon Fairgrounds, 655 S. First St. The encampment and its services need to be in place by Tuesday. Volunteers are needed Monday for setup and staging as well as Thursday and Friday to take down the encampment, according to organizers.

A Fairfield man was found guilty Thursday of resisting, obstructing and delaying a peace officer, according to a press release Friday from the Solano County District Attorney's Office. Officers were dispatched March 8 to the home of Nathan Perez after receiving a 911 call about a male and female arguing in the street.

Federal judge sentences Vallejo man for unlawful possession of a firearm

Danny Lee Rhines, 34, of Vallejo, was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Morrison C. England Jr. to six years in prison for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced Friday in a press release. According to court documents, Fairfield police in March saw Rhines driving a Nissan Altima in Vallejo and tried to pull him over.

Several felony cases advance toward trial or sentencing

A Solano County Superior Court judge next month will sentence a 31-year-old Fairfield man charged with two counts, among others, of sex acts with a child under 10. Jeremy M. Willis appeared in Department 4, with Judge R. M. Smith presiding, for a readiness conference in advance of a Dec. 10 preliminary hearing. However, according to court records, Willis apparently has pleaded no contest or guilty to the charges because he will instead face judgment and sentencing at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 26. Willis, who was served a warrant on April 10, also faces charges of annoying or molesting a child and violating a restraining order when he returns to Department 4, where Judge E. Bradley Nelson normally presides, in the Justice Center in Fairfield.

Solano woman faces charges related to 2017 death of infant son

A 34-year-old Solano woman with a history of methamphetamine use will return to Solano County Superior Court next week for further arraignment and to enter a plea in a case of alleged felony child endangerment related to the death of her infant son last year. Carina Marie Patterson on Friday morning appeared in Judge William J. Pendergast's courtroom in Fairfield for the same proceedings and, without an attorney at her side, requested the postponement.
