Closing arguments set for Thursday in Fairfield gang-related murder trial

Day 3 of a Solano Superior Court trial of an alleged gunman in a 2016 gang-related Fairfield homicide ended Tuesday afternoon with a video-recorded police interview and the investigator saying, "We're gonna charge you with murder." The statement came from Detective Sean Timm, who, with a Fairfield police colleague, spoke with Jesus Camarillo on Dec. 30, nearly three weeks after, authorities believe, the now-17-year-old Fairfield resident shot a killed a member of the Norteños, a rival street gang.

DA reportedly prepared to retry Barnesa sanity phase

An 18-year-old city resident was arrested and jailed Thursday night after police said they found him in possession of a loaded handgun with a high-capacity magazine, police announced Saturday. Police report that officers were walking through the apartment complexes on Grande Circle doing foot patrols and interacting with residents when they saw three people who appeared to be using drugs inside a parked vehicle in the parking lot at 1910 Grande Circle, police said in a press release.

An ex-con who faces multiple sexual assault charges and the possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison was ordered Friday to stand trial. Khary J. Cook, 36, is accused of raping a 26-year-old woman who he convinced to give him a ride from a North Texas Street McDonald's to a Crowley Street apartment in Fairfield in exchange for an ounce of methamphetamine.
