Frisco is located in northeastern Texas. It is considered to be a commuter city, as many of the residents work in Dallas. The area where Frisco now sits was settled by pioneers travelling along the Shawnee Trail. This trial was later used for cattle drives north of Austin and eventually became Preston Road, one of the oldest North-South roads in Texas. When the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway came through the area, several watering holes were constructed so the steam engines could refuel. One of these waterholes became the Frisco community, named after the railroad.

Sherman man dies in Frisco motorcycle crash

Police and firefighters were called to the scene of the crash in the 8500 block of Preston Road around 1:30 a.m. Jonathan Reed, 28, who had been riding a red Harley-Davidson, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, Frisco police said.

Voters on Tuesday approved tax ratification elections intended to raise more money for schools in Dallas, Richardson and Frisco ISDs, according to unofficial results. The Dallas and Richardson school districts will each get an additional 13 cents on their maintenance and operations tax rate, placing it at the state maximum of $1.17.
