LMPD investigating stolen Jeep and vehicle break-ins at Louisville hospital

Several cars were broken into and a Jeep was stolen this week from the Norton Audubon Hospital parking lot, LMPD said. The owner of the soft-top Jeep, Michael Ohlemacher, said he parks the 1998 Wrangler in the same spot every day, and when he went to drive home Wednesday night, it was gone.  "You never leave anything valuable in there," Ohlemacher said.

Man sentenced in deadly Louisville liquor store shooting

LOUISVILLE, KY A man convicted in the deadly shooting of a liquor store clerk has been sentenced to 33 years in prison. Police said James Spaulding entered the Stop-n-Go liquor store off Warnock Street in January 2016 and began arguing with the employees before getting ahold of a handgun.

Public housing residents in Louisville brace for federal smoking ban

The Department of Housing and Urban Development passed the smoking ban two years ago, and it's just now being implemented across the country.  "I don't think it's fair for them to stop us from smoking in our apartments and stuff and come outside, because a lot of us have disabilities," Michael Taylor said. Taylor sat confined to wheelchair Wednesday afternoon with a cigarette in hand outside the Avenue Plaza apartments in downtown Louisville, where he lives.   "I have to say that I will come out," Taylor said.
