A man convicted of murdering three women in California and charged with killing an Odessa woman has ties to Lubbock. 78-year-old Samuel Little, also known as Samuel McDowell, has been charged with killing an Odessa woman in 1994.

Man accused of impersonating Homeland Security officer attempts arrest of former city councilman

According to a police report, 48-year-old Donn Wojtowicz has been arrested and charged with impersonating a public servant. The report says on October 17, 2018, a former Lubbock city councilman, who asked to remain anonymous, was driving to Costco and was on 34th Street when he noticed a vehicle driving erratically on the road.

Lubbock haircuts for homeless adds - A Warmer Winter' initiative

At its first Thanksgiving feast on Thursday, the "Haircuts and Hope" group launched its "A Warmer Winter" effort to provide winter gear to homeless in Lubbock. Police say bone found during search for Zoe Campos

Lubbock police on Tuesday confirmed a bone discovered last week in a South Lubbock back yard was found as police acted on a lead in the case of missing Lubbock woman Zoe Campos. On Friday, police announced investigators searching the back yard of a home in the 1900 block of 70th Street found a bone on Nov. 7. On Tuesday, they said they were led to that area after a lead regarding the disappearance of Campos, who disappeared almost five years ago on Nov. 18, 2013.

Lubbock man awaits sentencing in 2017 box cutter assault on ex-girlfriend

A 39-year-old man faces up to 20 years in prison after jurors found him guilty of a 2017 attack during which he strangled his 33-year-old ex-girlfriend to unconsciousness, beat her and mutilated her left eye with a box cutter. Jurors in the 137th District Court deliberated for about an hour and 45 minutes before returning with their verdict on Nov. 8, finding Jesus Bocanegra guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury and a second count of domestic assault by strangling.

Salvation Army canteen heads out for this season's first Survive the Night

On Monday night several volunteers from the Salvation Army took their mobile canteen to the streets of Lubbock to help the homeless survive the cold temperatures. Salvation Army's Public Relations & Development Coordinator Kris Perez says they usually plan to send the canteen out after Thanksgiving, but because of the recent cold snap the canteen is heading out a little earlier this season.

VA clinic to host town hall meeting Tuesday

Lubbock's Department of Veteran's Affairs Outpatient Clinic, at 6104 Avenue Q South Drive, will host a town hall meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday to discuss the new clinic that is set to open on the Texas Tech campus.
