OKC woman arrested at hospital on child neglect complaint

Staff members at an Oklahoma City hospital were almost certain something was awry Tuesday afternoon when a woman brought an infant to the emergency room for a checkup, but did not know its name or date of birth. Staff gave the woman, Pamela Shavonne DeJear, 32, a room in the ER at St. Anthony Hospital, 1000 N Lee Ave., and called police about 3:45 p.m. DeJear told police she gave birth to the baby girl alone in her apartment in the 6200 block of S Douglas Ave. less than a month before, cutting the umbilical cord herself, according to a police report.

Authorities in northeast Oklahoma have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with a fire that gutted an 88-year-old business run by a 103-year-old woman. Joseph Ryan Williams of Miami was arrested Tuesday on complaints of arson, possession of methamphetamine and marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, burglary and possession of stolen property.
