Missing woman sought in search near Mt. Rose ski resort

Washoe County sheriff's deputies have resumed a search for a missing Reno woman whose car was found on a highway a few miles from the Mount Rose ski resort Reno police say 19-year-old Madelyn Lingenfelter last was seen on Wednesday by an employee of the Tannenbaum event center along the Mount Rose Highway.

2 teenagers severely wounded in Sparks shooting

Police say two teenagers were being treated for life-threatening wounds after reports of pre-dawn gunfire in the city of Sparks near Reno. Sparks Police said Saturday that gunfire was reported at about 2 a.m. during an altercation in a parking lot and that two youths, ages 18 and 17, arrived a short time later at a local hospital with life threatening wounds.

Plea in Nevada case linked to nearly $30,000 in counterfeit currency

Thinkstock Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 17. The maximum statutory penalty is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. A Nevada man pleaded guilty in federal court this week to using his home computer and printers to produce nearly $30,000 in counterfeit U.S. currency, Nevada U.S. Attorney Dayle Elieson announced.

Board of Commissioners Overturn Appeal; Paves Way for School Construction

In a hearing Tuesday, the Washoe County Board of Commissioners unanimously overturned an appeal, a decision that grants a special use permit to the Washoe County School District and paves the way for future construction of Arrowcreek middle school.  Commissioners initially denied the special use permit after concerns were raised about the adequacy of utilities, roadway improvements, sanitation, water supply and drainage in the proposed area.  The proposed site is located north of Arrowcreek Parkway, west of Thomas Creek Road and east of Crossbow Court where existing schools - Hunsberger Elementary and Sage Ridge School - are located. There were parents in attendance both for and against the location of the middle school.
