STOCKTON - James Chraska, who began his career with the Stockton Police Department 21 years ago, is the newest member of the agency's highest ranks following his promotion Monday to deputy chief. Sentecing delayed for man found guilty in 1993 sexual assault

STOCKTON - Monday's scheduled sentencing hearing for the man recently found guilty of molesting a 13-year-old girl in 1993 has been delayed for another seven weeks due to a "glitch at probation." San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge Richard Mallett said he would have liked to pronounce sentence on Sylvester Grant, 44, for committing "lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years" when Grant was 20 years old, but the lack of certain documents precluded him from moving forward.

One stabbed, another shot in late-night violence in Stockton

A 41-year-old man is under arrest after he was involved in five car accidents while driving three cars Saturday afternoon on Highway 4 in Stockton, according to investigators. "The emergency operations plan was the prime area they focused on," Marcia Cunningham, who heads the county's Department of General Services, said Friday in response to the grand jury report, which was released late Thursday afternoon.

Bicyclist struck, killed by vehicle in Stockton

First responders were called out to the scene of the crash, near Alpine Avenue and Sutter Street, around 6 p.m. The victim, only identified as an adult male, was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead. The driver stayed on the scene and has been cooperating with investigators.
